Speed is a leading provider of direct-to-consumer and business-to-business customized, integrated and outsourced transaction management services for traditional and e-commerce companies. Speed provides a "suite" of services which include fulfillment, call center, web development, web hosting, web marketing and many other related services. Speed is a single source provider so that its clients can focus on one relationship versus many and so that its clients present a single and consistent view to its customers. Speed performs virtually all of its services with in-house personnel so that it can provide the high degree of customization that its clients require.
Speed was started in May 2000 by Jeff Zisk, its current president and CEO. Mr. Zisk is an entrepreneur with three previous successful start-ups in retail, distribution and technology. Mr. Zisk has been on the leading edge of several industries with his past start-ups and in late 1999 and early 2000 saw a developing need for a company to provide fulfillment and distribution services for the emerging Internet retail business. The year 2000 was an interesting year to start Speed as many of the Internet start-ups which would need Speed's services were quickly running out of money and going out of business. At the end of 2000, Speed bought the fulfillment division of a competitor and merged its operation into the newly acquired facility. The fulfillment business primarily supported catalog and infomercial clients. In February 2001, Speed bought a call center to complement its fulfillment operation.
Speed continued to grow its business and in 2002 launched its first internally developed client web site. At the end of 2003, Speed acquired certain fulfillment assets and clients of another competitor and ended that year with 30 clients. At the end of 2004, Speed bought an Internet Marketing Agency and immediately integrated its service offering into Speed's existing client base as well as integrating Speed's services into the marketing agency's clients.
Throughout 2005, 2006 and 2007, Speed continued to grow its business and expand its service offerings. Speed has both added new clients and increased its services to existing clients. Speed has lost very few clients since its inception. Speed is a profitable business with a solid financial foundation. Speed continues to invest in its technology and facilities with a capital expenditures budget in 2007 in excess of $1 million. In 2006, Speed launched SpeedOrder™ 3.0 — an enhanced order and information management tool used daily by Speed’s clients.
